Building on last year’s stunning makeover, Toyota has yet again improved the iconic RAV4 with the upcoming 2020 RAV4 model. For drivers near the Long Island, Massapequa, or Seaford areas, this year’s RAV4 will come equipped with most of the 2019 model’s conveniences, as well as plenty of new features to get excited about.
With a well-equipped interior and a new TRD Off-Road trim added to the lineup, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 will exceed your expectations. We at Toyota of Massapequa want to help you navigate the offerings of this new SUV.
That’s why our automotive experts put together this comprehensive 2020 Toyota RAV4 review, to help you drive off the lot in a vehicle that fits your daily driving habits.
2020 Toyota RAV4 Engine Specs
The standard engine in the 2020 RAV4 is a 2.5L Dynamic Force 4-cylinder with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The Dual VVT-i assists the RAV4 by working with the engine’s intake and exhaust to improve things such as idle fuel economy and faster catalytic converter heating.
Thanks to the Direct Shift 8-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), you can expect a smooth driving experience whether you’re riding in the left lane or cruising down rural roads.
Additionally, those rolling hills are a lot easier to travel over thanks to the standard Hill Start Assist Control, which will hold brake pressure for a few seconds while you switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
The standard Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 (TSS 2.0) suite comes with a long list of driver-assistive technologies to help prevent accidents, which include a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), just to name a couple.
The PCS w/PD uses a two-input system equipped with a camera and radar sensor to alert you when there is an imminent collision. The LDA w/SA will indicate if your vehicle is moving from its designated lane when there are visible lane markings, and the Steering Assist component can make small corrective steering movements when activated.
You can sit in stop-and-go traffic without the common anxiety we all have in tightly packed lanes thanks to power-assisted, ventilated 12-inch front and 11-inch rear disc brakes as part of the Star Safety System™. The standard system comes with six safety features meant to keep you on the road and out of harm’s way. Two integral features you’ll notice are the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Traction Control (TRAC).
If you’re interested in the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road model, it will also come with a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB).
TRD Off-Road Availability
Toyota decided to expand its TRD offerings to a few more of their vehicles in 2020. We couldn’t be more excited about the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road as it adds more to a Toyota model that we didn’t think could get any better. You’ll still get the same powerful 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, but the remainder of components, such as tires, wheels, and suspension, are all designed specifically for the TRD trim.
The RAV4 TRD Off-Road will ride on lighter 18-inch TRD alloy wheels painted matte black and equipped with Falken A/T Trail all-terrain tires, so you can go wherever you want. Additionally, you can bring dirt bikes, a boat, or a small trailer with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
